I seldom watch soaps on television, the other day I
happened to watch one on Vijay TV Tamil called '7C'. This is about
School, Students and Teachers. 7C is a labeled as
problematic class also. This reminded me of my school days. Even my
class was labelled as "undisciplined", "noisy",
"worst" class in the school and every teacher had one or another
complain against us. Fortunately, the teacher of the class is very fond of
his class students and is striving hard to improve their learning skills and so
on. This is probably something happening in the soap and not in reality.
Well, then I encountered that they had similar complaints against
all- for one substantial reason being most of the students did not
perform well at studies and were probably up to the expectation level of the
teachers.
Now, I put it this way, perhaps, it was or is teachers who
failed to come down to the students' level, understand the understandable
capacity of the students, as a better teaching aid and make learning easy and
enjoyable. So, it's the "TEACHERS" who failed and just pass on the
blame on students. It's easy isn't it?????
Though, I still have high regards for my teachers and for some of
them I still remember and also talk about them with my son, friends and so on.
One of the subject teachers of my son's school also has a similar
notion about his class. He is also in Grade 7 but not 7C. She was complaining
that-"I really wonder how they have come without learning the
basics". This is the question that has to be put the former grade teachers
not the students. I would say, till grade 10, every aspect of learning is
basics-every year of learning adds to the basic learning, be it English,
Languages, Science, Maths of Social Science. It is in-depth and
proper learning of basic that stands as firm "FOUNDATION" that
determines the students to choose his/her career choice.
Yet another visible problem is "TEACHERS WANTED"--very
hard to find good, dedicated, interested, passion for teaching Teachers. Though
there is a demand for teachers and not for teachers who have a passion for
teaching. Again, the profession and remuneration given is not
adequate and does not give proper recognition. This is again yet another big
problem of dedicated teachers losing enthusiasm over a period.
This again reminds me that each occupation has its own related
occupation hazard over a period of time. This could be the reason of providing
welfare measures to recharge themselves, overcome monotonous or routine
schedule and meaningful breaks helps them to perform better. Well. I am not
sure such a thing happening with teachers teaching even at corporate schools.
Anyway, in every
school one class or section gets labelled as "MOST UNDISCIPLINED CLASS"
