Where do you keep your Cell phone normally?

A true and sad story. This story was passed on to me by one of my friends. May be some of you know the story that I am sharing now. As I thought it would be useful for all of us and so sharing with you all.

A lady always having abortions. When the fetus gets to be 2-3 months old she loses it. This happened several times over. The couple went to check with many doctors and at last one of the doctors examined the dead baby and found that the baby's body cells kept dying as the baby was growing in the womb until he/she could not survive. This was because her uterus was affected by Cell phone Radiation...

The doctor told her she now has no chance to give birth to a healthy baby because the radiation has affected her uterus so that the major portion of the cells in her uterus have already died. This happened because she had been keeping her cell phone in her working jacket so that the phone rested against just on the right spot of the uterus.. She had been wearing it like this for a few years.

Please beware of this and take note if you don't want what has happened to this woman to happen to you.

Dearest friends & family members --Please do not ignore cell phone radiation which will damage our health or body organs. Please put away your cell phone whenever you don't need it much.

Guys -- Please do not keep your cell phone near to the kidney position and pants pocket as this will damage your genital area and affect your ability to father a baby. This rule goes for the usage of the laptop also. NEVER place a laptop

Kailash Gouri Vratham or nombu

Kedhara Gowri vradham or Kedara Gowri vratam is performed by married women. This nombu is performed on Deepavali Amavasya day. Without Caste creed, rich - poor differences people observe this festival. In Some parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra this is the main vratam of framing communities. They worship all the farming tools and cattle as Gomatha.

This Kedhara vratam is observed for twenty one days starting from shukla Paksha Ashtami i.e., eighth moon day in its growing phase in the month of PurattAchi -mid September to mid October. The final day of Deepavali also should be observed with great devotion.

One of my colleagues from RamaKrishna Math Ms. Aslesha perform this vratam. According to her Mudaliar and Sub Castes – Sengunthar / Kaikolar, Kootam or of similar to Gothras – Virabhagu (Viravahu) who has Kedara Gowri as their kula devi perform this vratram during every Deepavali for 21 days (prior to Deepavali).

The story behind this Deepavali Vratha goes like this:

Bhrungi Rishi was a great devotee of Lord Shiva but one defect existed in the great seer. He never prayed to Devi and completely ignored her! Even during the supplicative practice of Pradakshina–circumambulation. He ignored Divine Mother. To teach a lesson to this Sage, both Shiva and Parvathi merged into one and appeared as Ardhanareeshwara before the Saint. The saint did not budge and assumed the form of a Bee! (Bee is called Brhunga in Sanskrit and thus his name Bhrungi Rishi) and then pierced the body of Ardhanareeshwara-Ardhanareeshwari and tried to do circum-ambulate Shiva’s side alone. Amba or Mother Goddess is Bhraamari and the sage plays with Bee role. When divine mother gets angry Shiva cannot do anything, so Divine mother withdrew Shakthi from the “Bhruga” and when the rishi assumed his form back, he could hardly stand on his legs!, this despite intense and arduous tapas for Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva had to give him a stick to make him stand up. Lord Shiva then pacified Shakthi and then made the Rishi realize the folly of ignoring Divine Mother. Thus Shiva-Shakthi Aiykyata -union was realized on Deepavali day by the Rishi and he performed the Kedara-gowri Vratham.

Well, about the significance of this vratam I am not very clear. However, in my friend's place I see the Goddess deity in the form of Pounding stick and the 'Chaata'--winnowing the chaff is used for the vratam. This reminds me of the essential household commodities used by us. Similarly, even during the wedding, one can observe use of all these commodities ensuring the importance everyday importance of the things around us.

Kanchi Maha Periyava "Sri Sri Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Maha Swami"

I am glad to share this piece of information about Kanchi Maha Periyava "Sri Sri Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Maha Swami" who inspired many, who laid firm faith in the non - believer, guided many on the spiritual path, reached in numerous country men, instrumental towards connecting people through Padha Yatra' , regular chanter of Bhaja Govindam, made access of the simple mantra 'Bhhaja Govindam Bhaja Govindam' to all to get rid anxiety, agony, stress and evil thoughts.

Maha Periyavaal was born on 20 May 1894, under Anuradha star according to the Hindu calendar, into a Kannadiga Smartha Hoysala Karnataka Brahmin family in the Villupuram South Arcot District, Tamilnadu as Swaminatha. He was the second son of Subramanya Sastri, a District Education Officer. The child was named Swaminatha, after the family deity, Lord Swaminatha of swamimalai near Kumbakonam Swaminatha began his early education at the Arcot American Mission High School at Tindivanam, where his father was working. He was an exceptional student and excelled in several subjects . In 1905, his parents performed his upanayanam, a Vedic ceremony which qualifies a Brahmin boy to begin his Vedic studies under an accomplished teacher

During the childhood of the Acharya, his father consulted an astrologer who, upon studying the boy's horoscope, is said to have been so stunned that he prostrated himself before the boy exclaiming that "One day the whole world will fall at his feet". In 1906, the 66th Acharya of Sri Kanchi kamakoti peetam performed the annual Chaturmasyam (a forty-day annual ritual performed by Hindu ascetics while remaining in one place), in a village near Tindivanam in Tamil Nadu. This was Swaminathan’s first exposure to the Math and its Acharya. Later, Swaminathan accompanied his father whenever he visited the Math where the Acharya was deeply impressed by the young boy.

The following is narrated by swaami himself at a later date:

In the first week of February 1907, the Kanchi Kamakoti Math had informed Subramanya Sastrigal that Swaminathan's first cousin (son of his mother's sister) was to be installed as the 67th Peetathipathi. The presiding Acharya was then suffering from smallpox and had the premonition that he might not live long. He had, therefore, administered upadesa to his disciple Lakshminathan before he died. Sastrigal being away in Trichi on duty arranged for the departure of Swaminathan with his mother to Kanchipuram. The boy and his mother started for Kalavai (where Lakshminathan was camping) to console his aunt who, while also being a widow, had just given up her only son to be an ascetic. They traveled by train to Kanchipuram and halted at the Sankara Math. By then, Lakshminathan had fallen ill:

I had a bath at the Kumara Koshta Tirtha. A carriage of the Math had come there from Kalavai with the people to buy articles for the Maha Puja on the tenth day of the passing of the previous 66th Acharya. One of them, a hereditary maistry (mason) of the Math, asked me to accompany him. A separate cart was engaged for the rest of the family to follow me. During the journey the maistry hinted to me that I might not return home and that the rest of my life might be spent in the Math itself. At first I thought that my elder cousin having become the Head of the Math, it was his wish that I should live with him. But the maistry gradually clarified matters as the cart rolled on. The acharya had fever which developed into delirium and that was why I was being separated from the family to be taken to Kalavai... I was stunned by this unexpected turn of events. I lay in a kneeling posture in the cart, shocked as I was, repeating "Rama... Rama," the only prayer I knew. My mother and other children came some time later only to find that instead of her mission of consoling her sister, she herself was placed in the state of having to be consoled

The 67th Acharya also died, after reigning for a brief seven days as the head of the Math. Swaminathan was immediately installed as the 68th head of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam on February 13, 1907, the second day of the Tamil month of Masi, Prabhava year. He was given Sanyasa Asramam at the early age of 13 and was named Chandrasekharendra Saraswati. On May 9, 1907 his "Pattabishekam" as the 68th Peetathipathi of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam was performed at the Kumbakonam Math. Devotees including Shivaji Maharaja of Tanjore government officials and pundits participated in the event.
Even though there was not enough property in the mutt to be administered, the court considering the benefit of the mutt, ordered the mutt to be administered under the “Guardian and Wards Act”. Sri C.H.Venkataramana Iyer, an illustrious personality from Kolinjivadi (Colinjivadi) village near Coimbatore was appointed as guardian by the court. The administration of the mutt was under guardianship from 1911 to May,1915. On the day of Sankara Jayanthi in the year 1915, Swamigal took over the administration of the mutt on the completion of his 21 st year. The administration of the mutt was taken over in name, but the actual work was taken care of by an agent, one Sri Pasupathi Iyer. He was an able administrator who volunteered to do the job without compensation and hailed fromThirupathiripuliyur Sri Swamigal does not sign any document, instead Sri Mukham stamp is placed on documents.

Mahaswami had vedic studies at Kumbakonam Mutt oppostie the mahamaham tank. In 1915, Sri Anantharama Srouthigal was his prathama adhyayana tutor. As a little girl, his granddaughter Nagam used to carry milk in a pot to the pontiff next door. She said the acharya was sharp in memory and divinely blessed with prediction. Avidly she recalled how the acharya directed her father Narayana Iyer (S/o Anantharama Srouthigal) to vacate the place and go to his house next door. Narayana came home and died within minutes. Thus was his spiritual darshan. When her family visited the Kanchi Mutt in 1991, the aged acharya blessed the family members and enquired if they were Nagam's children. It is understood that the house was later donated to Mutt by the family.

Maha Periyavaal spent several years in the study of the scriptures and dharma shastras and acquainted himself with his role as the Head of the Math. He soon gained the reverence and respect of the devotees and people around him. To millions of devotees he was simply "Periyavar"—the revered one or Maha-Periyavar or Periya-Periyavar. "Periyavar" in Tamil means a great person, and conveys endearment, reverence, and devotion. "Mahaswami" and "Paramacharya" are his other well-known appellations.[
Maha Periyavaal was the head of the Mutt for eighty-seven years. During this period, the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam acquired new strength as an institution that propagated Sankaara”s teachings. The devotion, fervor, and intensity with which the Paramacharya practiced what Ĺšankara had taught are considered to be unparalleled by his devotees.Throughout his life, the focus of his concern and activities was rejuvenating Veda adhyayana , the Dharma Sastras , and the age-old tradition, which had suffered a decline. "Veda rakshanam " was his very life breath, and he referred to this in most of his talks.

Providing support through Veda Patashalas (schools teaching Vedic lore) through the Veda Rakshana Nidhi which he founded and honouring Vedic scholars, he reinvigorated Vedic studies in India. He organized regular sadhas ('conferences') which included discussions on arts and culture—these led to a renewed interest in the Vedic religion, Dharma sasthras, and the Sanskrit language. His long tenure as Pitadhipathi is considered by many to have been the Golden Era of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham He attained the lotus feet of Acharayars and Lord Almighty commonly understood as Mukti (died) on January 8, 1994 at the age of 100 and was succeeded by Jayendra saraaswti Swamigal.

Though Paramacharya did not get directly into politics, he was interested in the happenings. At Nellichery in Palakkad (Present Day Kerala), Rajaji and Mahatma Gandhi met the Acharya in a cow shed. It was a practice in the mutt to wear silk clothes. But Acharya was the first one to do away with them and shifted to Khadi robes at Rameshwaram. He requested his devotees to do away with foreign/ non natural clothes some time earlier at Trichy. The day India became free, he gave the Maitreem bhajata song, which was later to be sung at the UN by M S Subbulakshmi. He gave a speech on the significance of the flag and the Dharma chakra into it on that day.

Periyava's charm invited the rich and the poor, the old and the young alike to be his devotees. Some of his famous devotees include, their highness the King and Queen of Nepal , the Mother of Greece, the Dalai lama , M.S. Subbalakshmi, Siubramanya swami, Indira Gandhi, R. Venkatraman and Atal Bihari Vajpayee among others. To the Acharya, the VIPs and the common man were one and the same. There were thousands of personal experiences to lakhs of his devotees, who still revere him, and pray to him as a messenger of the Supreme or an ultimate Guru.

The Paramacharya leads a very simple life like wearing homespun Khadi only. He believes that poor womenfolk spinning yarn of their own at their leisure hours could earn a fair and decent living conducive to the Dharmic way of life. He will never stay in Cognito within the four walls of a room. He will never sweat as he never takes salt. He will stand on single tow in kukkutasana posture and converse with the people nearby for hours on end. He is a master of all Yoga asanas. He has completely discarded salt, tamarind and chilies in any form the date of His ascension to the Peetham. His food consists of a morsel of fried paddy with some fruits mixed (if they are available) and milk at times and He will quietly avoid any food if he happened to see unworthy and sinful people and observe complete fast for the whole of that day. At night He will never take food.

I have found Him living for a month in Calcutta only on Vilva-fruit which will be very sour and most untasteful but medically recommended. He himself observes strictly the Dharna with 'kamandalu'(wooden water pot), a danda (holy-stick) and kashaya-Vastra (ochre cloth). His austere celibacy is well-known and he prohibits any women folk to see him in private. He won't relish by himself music or fine-arts unless it is as dedicated to God Sri Chandramouleeswara or other deities. He won't lay aside 'danda' at any cost unless it be for bath or wash. He will sleep with the 'danda' in his grab. His sleeping time will be very short and however late it is his going to sleep, he wakes up by 4 a.m. always and will be ready for a full time Japa.

He is very proficient in the Vedas and especially in the Rig Veda(Mutt's Veda). He has mastered all the Sastras in Vedantha (Advaita Philosophy) to the end of 'Siddhi Brahmanandeeyam', Tarka, Sahitya, Dharma-sastras, Puranas and itihasas. He is a keen student of English, French, Telugu, Canarese, Latin Literatures besides possessing a masterly knowledge of sacred Tamil literature like Tirukkural, Kamba Ramayanam, Sekkizhar's works and twelve Thiruppavai-Thiruvembavai conferences and also the originator of the singing of Kolaru-Pathigam on Navagraphas by Thirugnana Sambhandar. He organized all India Cultural Programs on Agamas, Bharta Kala, Silpa.

His Mudradhikari Scheme is one of the social programs for keeping the temples clean, lighting the lamps with oil and a congregation of people on Ekadasi days to pray to God and read Puranic stories. He wants the people of Two or three villages gather once a year and dig tanks of one region or other and take the temple cars around the places in festivals. He is very particular in helping the downtrodden, lone and sick people who are on their deathbed by uttering the name of Sri Rama into their ears, a spoon of Ganges water and Thulasi leaf for them to take in and undertake the cremation of the bodies with due rites. He called for Vedic Sammelans on all-India basis gathering all the Vedic scholars. He has arranged to provide pensions for the learned scholars and introduced the scheme of remuneration to Vedic student. Veda-bhashaya (commentary on the Vedas) and Prayoga (conduct of religious rites), study of Dharma-sastras are dear to his heart. He has published Advaita philosophy as found in all literatures and languages. He knows epigraphy and has done some astute and deep researches in that area.

NOKIA HAND SET WITH IDEA SIM-CHANGE THE WORLD

Nokia hand set says "Getting connected with People" with Idea Sim in it says " Change your life"--is the common wordings on commoners lips with dual offer!!
This is the trend slogans of mobile generation. It is the mobile way of life, mobile etiquette, mobile language and mobile communication that is guiding us. Every one is now under the control of mobile phones, in fact almost 99% of us around the world suffer from "Mobile Obsession"-- a mental disorder. hey1 How nice. All that we invent is more for used for destruction than for construction. More so when our cine stars become the brand ambassadors and each when highlighting that "This" is good, "that" is great or wise. No cine star is highlighting the misuse or harmful effects of use of Mobile Phones.

Each company is coming forward with multi plans of recharge offers with "longer talk time and life time packages". Each company is fooling common people on the name of "Change Your Life", no company is bothered about the destruction the mobile phones causing to human most important organ "Brain".

Well, at one side, it is definitely helping people to get connected, but more than getting people connected it is disconnected "FRIENDS" and "RELATIVES". Mobile phones have interrupted mobility of humans.

I wonder about the language usage too.... Many of the students are now answering the English Language paper in English SMS Language. "SMS-Short Messaging Service has now turned into Stupid Messaging Service".

One can learn "How best to waste TIME using mobile phone". Again, one is able to learn to give better "excuses" too.

Every day, new product with new unique features and design is up in the market, tempting us to throw away the old ones and go for new. About How many? I recently surveyed college youth having more than 5-6 handsets with 7-8 SIM cards. Many of them come from poor families who struggle between two full meals.

I wondered one day when my son who is in Grade VII came home and said that his classmate has a high end Touch Screen handset worth Rs50,000/-. Are we posing that our purchasing power has increased or these mobile handsets are making the SIX SENSE human being to dance on their dial pads????

These handsets that have become playing toys for little toddlers is turning into an unimaginable threatening weapon we all playing with. In fact these handsets have now become "Bomb Explosive Machine" and has caused destruction throughout the world killing innocent people.

How to get rid of it??? Is a question like many I too have.

Recently I met two people who have given up using mobile phones and say it is quite cool without mobile phones. Kudos to them!!

How about you!?

"Orientation on Parenting"-Every parent should know

I always wonder, how did my parents, especially m mother managed to bring me and my brothers. As each one were more notorious than the other. I also keeping asking and talking to know about the challenges my cousins had while upbringing their children. These are the learning experiences for all of us. Parenting is an art and as a parent every attempt is to be made to learn the art of parenting of children.

My mother always said that as a parent one must learn to be more patient in approaching child or teaching or handling child's issues. She also said that this was perhaps one of the reasons for having more children. Sibling rivalry, sharing, responding and also setting as an example was easy for them. Again, they accepted to learn the art of parenting with an open mind and not being judgmental. Of course, to some extend joint family system also helped in nurturing and inculcating the value system.

But modern days Parents are more anxious and register themselves much head of their children in the rat race. I also belong to this era and sometimes more confused too-

Recently, in one of the meetings a damaging statement was made by a renowned Child Psychologist-"PARENTS AND TEACHERS ARE THE TWO ENEMIES FOR CHILDREN". Where should a child go to???????

As per our traditional values goes we recite, respect and recognize mother as our "FIRST TEACHER"-"MATHRU DEVO BHAVA", "PITRU DEVO BHAVA" and thirdly regard TEACHERS as "ACHARYA DEVO BHAVA". If parents are the first enemy for a child-then there must be another alternative to the birth of children, secondly, if teachers are also enemies then where should the children go for learning.

Well, I consider parents as "BLESSED HUMAN BEINGS" and not all are fortunate and blessed enough to be PARENTS. Again, second blessed are the "TEACHERS" who have chosen to be in this noble field.

I met an interesting middle aged women who barged into a training programme session I was attending with a big smile. It was her session and she was late to her training class (as she was rushing straight from hospital attending to her mother-in-law who was hospitalized). She had lots of activities for teaching children and every answer regarding child challenges. Since then I am close to her and great admirer and can say that I have become a "Ceiling Fan or Table top Fan" kind. She is none other than Dr. Chitti Vishnupiya, who has done her PhD research in "Parent Education and Child Development".Greatest plus point is she begin her career as a "Teacher". Recently she has authored a book called "Know your child".

I am fortunate that I was trained by her and got to learn some aspect of parenting. In fact, she has helped me to see the child and child's difficulty from different angles.

Every stage of a child's development poses lots of challenges to parents and also to teachers. In fact, teachers also should be trained in handling parents and counselling parents. Handling smart kids, shy kids, problematic kids, hyperactive and so on and many more. As every child is unique, so are every parent. Each parent may not necessarily come across same problems as others do in coping up with children.

She always says that spend more time with children and as a parent one gets to know better and build good bondage...... Very true.

Parents are the first "ROLE MODELS" for children and next are the teachers. So, as a parent and teacher, we have to play our roles properly.

7C- labelled as Most Undisciplined classes

I seldom watch soaps on television, the other day I happened to watch one on Vijay TV Tamil called '7C'. This is about School, Students and Teachers. 7C is a labeled as problematic class also. This reminded me of my school days. Even my class was labelled as "undisciplined", "noisy", "worst" class in the school and every teacher had one or another complain against us. Fortunately, the teacher of the class is very fond of his class students and is striving hard to improve their learning skills and so on. This is probably something happening in the soap and not in reality.

Well, then I encountered that they had similar complaints against all- for one substantial reason being most of the students did not perform well at studies and were probably up to the expectation level of the teachers.
Now, I put it this way, perhaps, it  was or is teachers who failed to come down to the students' level, understand the understandable capacity of the students, as a better teaching aid and make learning easy and enjoyable. So, it's the "TEACHERS" who failed and just pass on the blame on students. It's easy isn't it?????

Though, I still have high regards for my teachers and for some of them I still remember and also talk about them with my son, friends and so on.

One of the subject teachers of my son's school also has a similar notion about his class. He is also in Grade 7 but not 7C. She was complaining that-"I really wonder how they have come without learning the basics". This is the question that has to be put the former grade teachers not the students. I would say, till grade 10, every aspect of learning is basics-every year of learning adds to the basic learning, be it English, Languages, Science, Maths of Social Science. It is in-depth and proper learning of basic that stands as firm "FOUNDATION" that determines the students to choose his/her career choice.

Yet another visible problem is "TEACHERS WANTED"--very hard to find good, dedicated, interested, passion for teaching Teachers. Though there is a demand for teachers and not for teachers who have a passion for teaching.  Again, the profession and remuneration  given is not adequate and does not give proper recognition. This is again yet another big problem of dedicated teachers losing enthusiasm over a period.

This again reminds me that each occupation has its own related occupation hazard over a period of time. This could be the reason of providing welfare measures to recharge themselves, overcome monotonous or routine schedule and meaningful breaks helps them to perform better. Well. I am not sure such a thing happening with teachers teaching even at corporate schools.

Anyway, in every school one class or section gets labelled as "MOST UNDISCIPLINED CLASS"

Curbing Children's Right of Development

Every parent, every teacher and every school talks about "Holistic Development". I wonder what is this all about holistic development- what is this after all?

All of us want to give the maximum scope for development for our children. It is the dream of every parent/s that their child should be the next Sachin Tendukar or Saina or Sania.....

One should focus on all round development of the child and explore the interest of the child and encourage the child in the that field-be it sports, drawing, craft, creativity or music, skating, swimming and so on.

To all this, firstly, we need to allow the children to come out of inhibition and also extend full trust, faith and support from our side. Then we can see children's development. Again, the development stages  vary from one child to another. One as a parent or teacher or observer need to have patience.

Well, all said and done, most of the time we elders curb the child's development-be at home, in school, when with peer group, in a common get-together. How do you think then development would take place.

A couple of days ago, my son told me that- he and his co-friends are not allowed to  talk on the bus on their way to  school or while returning home. A bus leader keeps watching and who ever talks are given punishment of sitting next to the teacher travelling along with them in the bus and kids would obviously keep their mouth shut. The journey time is roughly about forty minutes.  This is for the reason that some of the teachers who also travel in the bus take a nap and don't want to be disturbed by talking. Don't you think it is curbing the spoken ability development? Curbing communication skill development

My son said that he was discussing about some sports with his co-friend and he is asked not to do it. I have hardly found any child of my son's age discussing about sports, history or archaeological excavations and so on within the peer group interaction. His complaint was that perhaps his friends don't know about these things to discuss and mostly they would only discuss about current films either Telugu or Hindi.

Is there not a difference between speaking, talking, discussing or arguing? -- I don't know

I asked my son to be assertive and tell the bus leader that he was not talking but discussing. Well, my suggestion did not work as it fell on deaf hears. For the bus leader-discussing or arguing all comes under talking.

I was some how disturbed that I take sessions and encourage children to talk to get a hold on vocabulary usage, context and this would help them to speak up spontaneously and also encourage them indirectly to read also.  So all the way for eighty minutes- to and fro children are supposed to be silent. One can imagine the plight of the children; has not only the ability but also the enthusiasm and zeal to go to school is also getting curbed.--

It is not literally policing? ....
